This course will cover basic aspects of Ladies styling on the dance floor such as:
- how to add arm, shoulder, hip, head and leg styling to Salsa to add elegance and flair to your dance
- techniques for adding style in partnerwork
- variations to basic footwork and turns

Alfonso and other Dunedin salseros are back from the NZ Pacific Salsa Congress - the biggest Salsa event that happens in Wellington every year during Easter weekend!
It was a great event featuring the best NZ Salsa teachers, teams and couples plus international teachers, couples and performers from Australia, USA and Italy.
Overall a fantastic event with great organization, not to be missed next year!!

Due to the large number of requests for us to teach at the north end of town we are going to create a ZUMBA class in North Dunedin... Yes Salsa Moves is going north, it is a bigger space for those Zumba lovers that like plenty of room...

Latin Dance Invercargill, a group of Salsa enthusiasts and their teachers, are coming up to do a couple of workshops with Alfonso this weekend Saturday 10th April at Salsa Moves NZ studio, we will have about 13 plus keen salseros from down south willing to meet the Dunedin Salsa crew and try their moves with us!!
For that reason we will be holding a Salsa get together at the studio from 8pm! FREE entry and BYO, DJ Alfonso will be pumping some hot Latin tunes for your enjoyment!
We will provide disposable glasses, just bring your drink and one for us lol... just kidding

Days: Mondays 8pm Thursdays 8pm (2 days per week)

Starting Next Week....This is only the second time in 3 years that a Latin percussion course is being held at Salsa Moves NZ dance studio... yes this is very rare and I am very excited about it... ONLY 10 spots available... So don't miss out!! All music lovers welcome, whether or not you have a musical background it does not matter, we are going to take it slowly and start with the basics.

Learn how to play the basics of all percussion instruments commonly used in Latin music playing, 8week course (twice a week) 1:10 min per class
Alfonso is well known as one of the best Latin percussion players in the country (NZ), and his extensive knowledge about Latin rhythms and international experience has made him a valuable contribution to many New Zealand's art festivals/bands.
This course is only for people that are willing to practice and experience the emotion of the NOW and the thrill of live drumming
You also will have the chance to perform later in the year as a percussion ensemble.

Help Chile Get Back On It's Feet!

As many of you know, almost 2 weeks ago Chile was hit by one of the strongest earthquakes in recorded history. At first I thought it was just one more seismic movement as we are used to them in the pacific part of South America... But man, we didn't know how bad it really was this time until we saw the news that night! The images were shocking and came with warnings of tsunami all over the coast of Chile, Peru, Ecuador, part of the United States, NZ and Australia.
At the beginning the Chilean government and people thought that they would be able to handle it alone but reality was harder than they expected...
To make the story short and less dramatic, they need our help!
The Chilean and Latino community in Dunedin are organising two events to raise funds to send to Chile, and what better way that do it that in Latino style... Music and Party!!

After 4 weeks of being back in NZ I can finally say that I'm fully back and getting used to my daily kiwi life of teaching classes in Dunedin and around this beautiful country
I want to thank all the people who have come back to our studio for more Salsa and Latin dance classes, I am glad to see how much you missed it! Hehe...
To all new people who are coming to Zumba or joined dance classes in the last 4 weeks, a big welcome to Salsa Moves NZ studio we are thrilled to have you guys dancing and partying with us in 2010!!
As some of you already have noticed, a few changes have taken place at the studio, we now have more storage space, a bigger dance floor, classes facing the street (not the mirror), new classes like Zumba and Funtastik 4-01 and a fridge with Pump water and Powerade will be available for purchase soon...
NEW! Salsa Moves NZ website is already online, with easier to navigate features and soon students will be able to log in and have access to some cool tools aswell... Check it out www.salsamoves.co.nz

Latin Moves NZ has changed its name to Salsa Moves NZ and this change will take place from Monday 15th of February.
As most of you guys know, at Salsa Moves NZ we are always improving our services for the maximum benefit of our students, and our commitment is to promote an authentic and high quality service for the Dunedin and NZ community.
Last year in Dunedin we had the privilege to have:
- The Cuban Carousel show at the Mayfair theatre
- Nichito from Cuba teaching a Cuban Salsa workshop
- Mafie Zouker from Brazil
- Jacob from Wellington
- Nirico and Emily from Christchurch
and our own Rebecca from Dunedin teaching her fabulous lady styling class. Not to mention a few fantastic parties during the year and a very successful end of the year demonstration, which allowed all students to show their skills and talents, plus a couple of brilliant performances!
In 2010 we are planning to have more fun packed experiences for you!
